Bonaventure Senior Living "Chefs' Nite Out" for MPFS

Chefs’ Nite Out, a step back in time

A Renaissance theme replete with costumed lords, ladies and swordsmen and tables overflowing with delectable foods, wine and brews will greet attendees at the 15th annual Bonaventure Senior Living Chefs’ Nite Out event on Oct. 6.

From 4 to 7 p.m. a rich tapestry of sights, sounds and aromas will fill the Salem Convention Center as more than 45 of the Mid-Willamette Valley’s finest restaurateurs, caterers, winemakers and brewers offer tastes and sips to hundreds of feasters. Attendees are invited to dress in Renaissance garb if they choose.

Tickets for this Marion-Polk Food Share signature fundraiser are on sale for $75 per person. They may be purchased by calling 503-581-3855 or going to www.chefsniteout.org. Proceeds from ticket sales support the regional food bank’s mission of alleviating hunger in Marion and Polk counties.

“This year, nine new restaurants have joined the lineup with many longtime participants who will be serving a variety of foods including dishes made with chicken, pork, beef, fish and shellfish, along with baked breads and delicious desserts,” said event organizer Linda Kromer.

Live music will be provided by Mark Seymour and Orvil Ivie. Souvenir photos by Martin Giovannini will be available for a suggested donation of $5.

Event sponsors and participants donate funds and goods so that 100 percent of ticket sales can go toward MPFS programs to help feed hungry neighbors and encourage self-sufficiency that reduces the need for emergency food assistance. Sponsors include Bonaventure Senior Living, SHE Designs & Event Rentals, Capitol Auto Group, FastSigns, Mountain West Investment Corp., Sysco, Advantage Precast Inc., AmeriTitle, Rich Duncan Construction, Roth’s Fresh Markets, Salem Convention Center and Shryock’s Menswear.

“The need for emergency food assistance in our community continues to climb,” said Rick Gaupo, MPFS president and CEO. “More than 47,000 people each month are seeking emergency food assistance. We rely upon community donations to keep food flowing to local families and innovations moving forward to both increase the food supply and reduce the need.”

Last year, 97 hunger-relief partner charities in the MPFS network distributed more than 113,000 emergency food boxes and served more than 641,000 meals.
