The Keizer Heritage is hosting a new display in the museum which runs now through early March 2016. It features hand carved ceremonial pipes, baskets and various toys. Native American artistry and craftsmanship are shown in the decorative and practical items. All are made by hand from ivory, local clay and red pipestone from SW Minnesota. The baskets are made from materials local to the Native Americans and Eskimos and have been woven with complexity and elements of creative expression.
This display is on loan and is a personal collection of Jim LaRock who enjoyed a career with the National Park Services and was the co-owner of the Willow Lake Nursery which was located on Windsor Island Road.
Viewing hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 2-4 pm and Saturday from 10 am-4 pm. Admission is free. Your annual museum membership would ensure that the center keeps our history alive well into the future. A Senior membership is $15, individual is $20 and family/business memberships are $35.
